The Perfectly Optimized Page

Below is a collection of some of the best ranking factors to help boost your page for specific keywords.  While these factors may seem basic to some, they are still regarded as highly effective and essential to a high ranking and for search engine optimization.

Important on-site keyword targeting factors:

1. Page Title
Not only does adding the keyword in the pages title have an effect on the ranking of a page, but having the keyword appear as close to the beginning of the title helps give it a little nudge. Keyword titles are still one of the most basic, but important ways to direct search engines to relevancy.

2. Headline
While there is some debate as to whether the keyword in your page’s H1 play an important roll in ranking, it may help with conversions. Think about it; the user just clicked on your link that had the keyword in the title, wouldn’t they expect to see it as the heading as well? It wouldn’t make sense from a UX standpoint to see an off-base heading, now would it?

3. Body Text
One of the best signals for a search engine to determine a pages relevancy is by the body text. Not only can inclusion of keywords help you rank, but how often and in what context they appear will also be a factor. However, it’s important to not that these are not guaranteed to make your page spike. Google is getting a lot smarter with advanced algorithms that can detect spun, non-user friendly content and keyword stuffing. Also, is the content useful for the reader and not just using the keywords for marketing purposes?

4. URL Structure
Using your URL in the best possible way can be of great advantage to your page’s ranking. There’s the factor of keyword relevancy, but also linking purposes and anchor text usage.

5. Pictures and ALT Attributes
Here at Visionisto Media we love to use images on pages. Not only do they help with adding visual appeal to pages and help illustrate data and facts, but they can also be used for keyword ranking purposes. Adding ALT attributes to your images is a great way to get the most out of your page’s keyword density ration. You’ll also have a chance of appearing in Google Image search.

6. META Description
While it’s widely known that Google and Bing do not use the Meta description tag to help pages rank, it’s important to have the keyword in this area for conversion purposes. Pages that include the keyword in the description area have a highly chance of being clicked because it’s deemed relevant in the users eyes.
